Sick Day

Owen has been complaining that his ear hurt and has had a few rough nights. He has never complained that his ears hurt before, so when he woke up this morning and said his head hurt, we figured we should take him to the doctor. Another ear infection and another round of antibiotics. Mommy gets her turn at the doctor tomorrow. Then 2/3 of the family will be on antibiotics. At least the boy is making the best if things.

Can you guess what they are playing???

Owen finished his homework for the day and Papa helped pack the couch and love seat out of the house for the people to take away (no small task if you remember how big they were). Now they get some Wii time.

Wii Time

The boys getting in some Wii time after church and our Home Teacher's visit. The lesson they shared was very timely. We need to remember our ABCs:

Attitude (a positive one)
Believe (in yourself)
Courage (life is hard).

Washington DC Temple Lights 2011

We finally made it the see the lights at the Washington DC Temple - after Christmas - but they were still awesome.  Here are the pictures in rapid fire!

The boy was wearing his winter boots and hie new socks and the socks kept falling down into the boots, so we would have to stop every 10 min so he could fix his socks.

Crazy boys!

Arggggg... Pirate Owen.

Inside the Visitor's Center they had lots of differently themed Christmas trees and a Nativities of the World Exhibit.

Waiting impatiently in line to see the Nativities.

This was the tree that was decorated by our Stake - Silver Spring, MD.  When we first saw it we thought - how lame and not up to par with the other trees in the room.  But then we realized that they had embedded a nativity in the tree and the lameness went down.

Family picture - best one we got.

The Temple lights were gorgeous as usual, and we enjoyed all the beautiful trees and nativities from all over the world.  Each year when we visit, it helps us remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

Owen's Christmas Concert 2011 - better late than never.

With all the craziness of December, we didn't get this uploaded to YouTube until today.  First the video and then some stills at the end.
Enjoy!!
I am pretty sure you will know which one is the boy.

Owen's kindergarten class all decked out in their Sunday best.

Getting off the stage.

So excited to be entertaining - he really turned on the charm.

Owen's First Basketball Game of the season

Owen has become pretty involved in things related to basketball.  I think it is because Papa has starting playing basketball during the week.  He wanted to do basketball this year, so we signed him up through his school for youth league that includes 4 or 5 other Catholic schools in the area.  Anyone 4-8 can play (PreK-2nd grade) and so there is a wide range of skill levels and ability, but they are having fun.

On the bench, waiting for the game to start.

Cheering for the other team as they made their foul shots.

Our turn to take our foul shots.  At the beginning of each half, everyone gets to shoot a foul shot.  That way everyone gets to at least try to make a basket.

Zone defense.

Inbounds pass.

Check out those moves!

"offense"

More zone defense.

Clip number 2 of the game.

Owen is VERY excited to play basketball and his skills are improving rapidly.  We have practice every Tuesday and games every Saturday through the end of February.  We will be a very busy family.  Chris is coaching Owen's team (and Beki is assisting him) and there is another assistant coach.  We have nine kids on the team and there are no "over-bearing" parents so far.  Hopefully it will be a fun season.
