Memorial Weekend

It was nice to have us all home for few days and have a day off from the craziness of the end of the school year. We tried to have some fun things each day and make the most of the weekend.

Epic game of Monopoly - the boy crushed us.

On Sunday we went to Wolf Trap for their annual Summer Blast Off Concert with The President's Own United States Marine Band and some awesome fireworks. It is the only free concert they do, so you have to get in line early.

On Memorial Day we visited Arlington National Cemetery. We want to make this an annual tradition. They had out roses at the gates for people to place on the graves. This year we took three bunches. It took a while to find an area with no roses, but we did.

One of the local pool associations was free all weekend, so I took Owen and his friends Dean and Scott.

It was really nice spending time together as a family and trying to emphasize the importance of remembering and honoring those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. Hopefully the boys will remember something.

The Bay Window

So the bay window in the kitchen had some issues. We had it inspected and the frame was rotting away - not surprising since it is 30 years old. So we had it replaced and we did some modification to the size so we could regain the use of the wall for counters/sink/etc. Here are a few pictures of the process. A few before and afters. We still have quite a few things to do to get the kitchen back to "normal".

Bowie Baysocks Game

We went to a minor league baseball game with our friends. There were fireworks and the kids got to run the bases. Chris won a round of golf by making a putt on the dugout roof.
