Super Storm Sandy,Halloween, Darth Gobbler, & Soccer

We had a pretty eventful week.  First Hurricane Sandy made it way through our area Sunday - Tuesday - we got A LOT of rain and had A LOT of wind, but no trees fell, we never lost power, and we had not water issues.  We were truly blessed.

View from the computer desk on Sunday afternoon before the storm moved in.  There are some perks to living next to a forest.

School was cancelled on Monday and Tuesday due to the storm, so we got to stay home and hang out.  We also did some cleaning and organizing, so it was two days well spent.  There was some Beyblade battling

and some bowling.

We carved our pumpkins on Monday night, even though we couldn't put them out because it raining a lot.

Owen got a Halloween card from Grandma Nettie.

We made the traditional sugar cookies (do you see Linus?)

Owen's school does a Halloween parade for all the parents after their class parties.  If you can't tell, the boy was pretty excited.

Here are two videos of the boy during the parade.

Then we still had to go with Papa to marching band practice because they are going to the National High Step Competition in NC next weekend.

Finally it was time to go trick-or-treating.

After doing our cul-de-sac, we went over to trick-or-treat with our good friends, the Curtises.

We saw this really cool house.

Counting the loot!

For school, Owen had an assignment to disguise a turkey.  He decided that he wanted to disguise him as Darth Vader - so Darth Gobbler was born.

The LAST soccer game of the season was Saturday and it was cold (45 F), with a bitter wind, and no sun shine.  Owen did pretty good and I think he had fun.

The coaches gave the players certificates for participating.

Proof that the boy did touch the soccer ball during the season.
