There are some out there of the opinion that teachers are payed way too much, only work 8 hours a day, have great benefits AND get summers off. Those people are obviously not married to a teacher. Chris is ridiculously busy writing his curriculum; grading 200+ students' homework, assignments, projects, tests, workbooks, etc; assisting with the bands; being music person for the musical the high school is doing; and teaching 200+ students about all different kids of music (and doing do awesomely I might add to a demographic that he is not very familiar with). This bring be to my point. The past two weekends Chris has needed some serious alone time to get stuff done. That means that Mommy has to keep the boy occupied and away from Papa. Since Owen can't leave Papa alone when they are in the same building, that means the boy and Mommy have gone on some LONG Saturday outings.
Last weekend we did all of the shopping and one stop was IKEA (one of the boys favorite places in the world) to get the boy a new comforter and duvet cover since our house has to be dust mite free now (at some point I will get around to doing a post on that whole story).
We ate lunch there and he obvious was full.
Milk mustache.
He found another little boy and they were playing soccer. One was the striker and the other was the goalie and they would take turns trading places.
Vegging out playing some Lego Star Wars.
This weekend we were out and about again running errands and such. It took some convincing, but finally the boy decided that he would go see a move with Mommy, but it took the bribery of popcorn to really convince him.
Getting ready to watch "The Lorax".
Notice that he isn't even looking at the camera - his eyes were glued on the screen and the movie hadn't even started yet.
The boy being a spaz in front of the movie poster.
Spaz take 2.
He thought the movie was "awesome" and even busted out some moves to the song playing during the credits. The thing he was most excited about was that you get to see The Once-ler and he had a "mustache beard".
So far I have been successful in keeping the boy from bugging Papa for two straight weekends and have enjoyed spending one-on-one time with the boy (he might have had fun too, but who knows). I am going to start running out of ideas soon.
